By far the most popular cosmetic dental procedure is teeth whitening. In Dr. Matin’s office, we use the ZOOM!™ Teeth whitening System. It is fast, easy and highly effective. You can arrive at our office for your ZOOM!™ Treatment and leave about 90 minutes later with a dramatically different and whiter smile!
ZOOM!™ Teeth Whitening uses a light-activated hydrogen peroxide gel to whiten your teeth many shades lighter. The treatment itself takes an hour, and there’s some time spent on getting set up beforehand, and on checking your teeth afterwards.
How does the ZOOM!™ treatment work?
Dr. Matin will put a blocking substance on your lips, gums and other soft tissue to protect them from the teeth whitening light. You will also be given protective goggles. An aligner will be put in your mouth to insure that the light is focused on the right area of your teeth.
In three 15-minute sessions, the teeth whitening gel will be placed on your teeth and the light will shine on it for 15 minutes. During that time you can listen to music or watch a movie. Some patients even take a catnap!
A five-minute fluoride treatment will follow the procedure. Dr. Matin will give you a follow-up kit to take home. You can continue whitening your teeth that way at your convenience. Some people find that their teeth become even whiter after these extra treatments than they were after the in-office session. Alternatively, you can keep the kit for touch-ups at a later date.
